In-House Diagnostics
The Bailey Veterinary Medical Center utilizes the latest in veterinary diagnostic technology to deliver exceptional treatment. Our goal is to understand your pet’s health and any condition they have to the fullest possible extent so we can formulate a treatment plan best suited to their needs.
Ultrasound is an imaging technique that uses sound waves to create a real-time visualization of your pet’s major organ systems. This procedure is pain-free and non-invasive and can help our team diagnose and monitor various conditions including tumors and fluid in the abdomen. We can also diagnose and monitor pregnancies. Our ultrasound machine can also show us details such as the texture, size, and shape of the internal organs. For full abdominal scans and echocardiograms, we can call in a local specialist.
Our digital X-ray equipment quickly produces high-quality images of various parts of the body, including the musculoskeletal system and thoracic (chest) cavity. We can use it to diagnose broken bones, arthritis, limb deformities, tumors/masses, intestinal obstructions/foreign bodies, and more.
An added benefit of our X-ray equipment is that it allows for the quick sharing of X-ray images with external specialists. This is essential for complex medical cases where efficiency and a specialist’s opinion are vital to the care of your pet.
At The Bailey Veterinary Medical Center, we elevate pet dental care with the support of our digital dental radiology equipment. Because many oral diseases in dogs and cats are hidden away below the gum line, they can only be properly detected and diagnosed with full-mouth X-rays. We perform dental X-rays with every dental cleaning procedure to ensure the best possible care for your companion. This includes checking for signs of dental disease, tooth fractures, abscesses, and tooth resorption.
We utilize our Class 4 Laser for much more than just pet rehabilitation. Any treatment or condition that causes discomfort and requires healing can benefit from laser therapy. We frequently use it to treat post-surgical incisions and dental incisions (tooth extraction sites) to accelerate the healing process and make our patients much more comfortable while they recover.
Our animal hospital contains a full, in-house diagnostic laboratory that can provide same-day results, ideal for urgent/sick visits.
Examples of tests we can perform in house include:
- CBC (complete blood count)
- Blood chemistry
- Urinalysis
- Thyroid testing
- Bile acids
We can also run lab work before anesthesia procedures to check for underlying health problems.
Our animal hospital is equipped to screen for many internal chronic conditions in dogs and cats, including metabolic diseases, endocrine diseases, cancer, and more. With our ultrasound and X-ray machines and in-house diagnostic laboratory, we can diagnose a wide range of diseases with greater speed and accuracy.
Allergies and skin disorders are some of the most common reasons for pet visits, and we have considerable experience treating both dogs and cats for various allergies and conditions including hot spots, secondary skin infections, ear infections, seasonal atopy/atopic dermatitis, and food hypersensitivity. Skin disorders in dogs and cats can take time to resolve, and often include trial and error until the most effective treatment regimen is found.
The Bailey Veterinary Medical Center offers a full range of pet rehabilitation services and multimodal pain management to help your companion live a more comfortable and mobile life. From hydrotherapy and massage to Class IV laser therapy and acupuncture, we have treatment options available to meet every pet’s needs.
We can provide urgent care during our regular business hours for pets that need a same-day visit for a concerning medical issue. Urgent care visits are meant to address non-life-threatening problems, such as coughing, ear infections, limping, and parasites.
